Why Market Metrics?

We are your strategy and planning specialists

Thank you for considering Market Metrics. Here’s a bit about us, our history, and why you should choose us for your next strategic management project.

About us

Market Metrics is a boutique consultancy located in Ottawa — the heart of Silicon Valley North — that was founded in 2003 to serve the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. The ICT sector includes product and equipment manufacturing, software and computer systems, communications services, and distribution (wholesaling).

While we serve clients in person in eastern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area, we work remotely with clients located elsewhere. Our client base includes ICT and knowledge-based businesses across Canada, the United States, and Europe.

During our first years, Market Metrics focused on market assessments. We researched and authored 17 major syndicated ICT market studies under contract for leading Canadian and US publishers of market research. By the late-2000-aughts, our principal Greg Graham was recognized as one of Canada’s leading experts on the business telephony and networking equipment markets.

This is in addition to the in-depth knowledge of subscriber-based business models that he developed during his years at TELUS’ ISP division and Nortel Networks’ ASP Hosting division.

Since then, we’ve diversified into mainstream management consulting, and have worked with dozens of software developers, manufacturers, service providers, and test equipment vendors — analyzing their markets, formulating strategy, and developing actionable plans.

Why Market Metrics?

We offer our clients a unique combination of:

  • high-quality work based on top-shelf professional skills,
  • real-world industry experience in business planning, marketing, and technology; and,
  • competitive pricing.

And our Client Satisfaction survey results prove that it works.

100% of respondents said we addressed their business issues
100% said we delivered what was promised
100% said our work is better or much better than our competitors
100% said they will be better off once they implement our recommendations
100% said our prices were either less expensive or about the same as our competitors
100% said they would work with Market Metrics again

Our mission: Help your business prosper

Our mission is to help your business grow in a sensible way, so it can step boldly into the future.

Do you need to evaluate a possible new opportunity? Consider a new product line? Plan for the future? Fend off competitors? Seek funding from banks or investors? Update shareholders?

Market Metrics can help. Since 2003, we’ve successfully worked with dozens of software developers, manufacturers, and service providers to analyze their markets, create effective strategies, and develop pragmatic action plans.

We do this by learning about your business’ three C’s — your customers, cash, and competitors — and assisting with research, strategy, innovation, and planning. Whether you need market insights, business planning, product roadmaps, or corporate strategy, we can help!

Our edge: Top-shelf professional skills

We offer our clients top-shelf professional skills. Our founder and principal, Greg Graham, is an expert in SaaS and subscription-based service business models, strategic marketing, and strategic planning.

Greg had over 20 years of experience in ICT industries before starting Market Metrics. Through the course of his corporate career, he held increasingly-responsible roles in engineering, software development, marketing, and business planning at companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 firms, including Hewlett-Packard, Nortel Networks, and TELUS. Greg was a pivotal member of the management team that commercialised Internet access at TELUS, grew its subscriber base to over 100,000 customers in 18 months, and launched North America’s first residential DSL service. Greg holds a B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science, an MBA, and a certificate in Strategic Management.

Since founding Market Metrics, Greg has continued to develop his professional skills so he can serve clients better. He become a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) in Canada, and an accredited SME Consultant (ASMEC) in the United States. He underwent additional training to become one of fewer than 50 people in Canada qualified to deliver ISO 20700-compliant consulting engagements. In 2020, Greg was made a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants (FCMC) of Ontario in recognition of his service to clients, the profession, and the community.

Management Consultant

Our approach: Your business needs are first and foremost

Our client-centric approach puts you, your business, and your business’ specific needs first and foremost. We focus on identifying your specific business challenge and providing a solution. After initial discussions, we draft a custom proposal with a description of your situation and a scope of work. You review the proposal, and we refine it together so that it suits your exact needs.

Then, we get to work on whatever blend of research, strategy, innovation, and planning best suits your needs. The result is your market assessment, feasibility study, or business plan.

Our pricing: Competitive — and no surprises

You’ll pay no more for us than other qualified management consultants.

Our clients tell us that they hate hourly billing, so we usually do projects for a fixed fee — there’s no meter running. That means you know exactly what to expect for your project’s scope of work, timeline, and cost.

Our results? 100% client satisfaction!

Client satisfaction is one of our core values, and we work hard at it. We recognize and appreciate the trust that clients place in us.

After a project is done, we ask clients to complete a brief Client Satisfaction Survey. We’re proud to say the results are clear: Our clients overwhelmingly say we provide high-quality work, our prices are competitive, and they would work with us again.

Results of our Client Satisfaction Survey are provided to prospective clients so they can make an informed decision.
